Life's Promise Still Unknown

Kurt Philip Behm

I didn’t ask to be alone,

but I’ve always been alone

Living within the shadows,

that in time became my home

I never asked to be alone,

but I’ve always been alone

Each day a drifting footprint,

among endless stepping stones

I didn’t ask to be alone,

but I’ve always been alone

Each night a stark reminder

of a dream that’s never shown

I never asked to be alone,

but I’ve always been alone

The ending now upon me

—life’s promise still unknown

A haunting poem, Kurt, that makes one ponder what life's promise really is, and if we will ever know.

The darker side of the Muse....
