There was a little doodlebug

In his sandy trap

He could not catch a grub

As the grub was just too fat

 

Then there was a centipede

Marching there along

He was safe there too

As he was just too long

 

Then came a spider

Freely from his web

But he was also safe

As he jumped the trap instead

 

Then there was the ant

And he was the perfect size

He fell into the trap

With the doodlebug inside
