Meandering; in search of answers
Through apathy-filled meadows; bereft of hope
A tortured soul crawled on bloodied hands & knees
Fighting against the pull of despair's tight rope
Ripples of time gone; without memory
In the breath of insipid air
He stood; facing the perils of grief
& stripped his soul completely bare
Ancient winds etched with my name
Susurrated in the valleys he roamed
Enveloping him completely
Beckoning him to the light; his home
A metamorphic moment
When one light flickered in the distance
Suddenly understanding
The reason for his existence

i guess the last stanza says it all
Thank you, Ron. Nice to see you!
my pleasure
The light is always there but for some it is difficult to see but it is there.
Yes, it is there, Goldie!
A fine write Santita. But for me, I'm not knowing the reason for me existence, since I married KP. I'm losing the will to live. If only I could find the key to this ball and chain she put on me leg, I could escape! heehee.
hahahahahahahah!!!!!
You must keep on living! lol
Keeps you guessing until the end - really got drawn into this - great work.
Thank you so much, Michael!
Will we ever know our reason for existence. Once again your metaphor is off the charts. Reminds me of me searching for myself. A kick ass piece that resonates.
S L ( Still Lost )
Reason is there is no reason, all search for reason ends in no search.
That is one way of thinking. I believe when we search we are seeking an inner purpose. Hell, for all I know, we are only here to procreate the species like any other animal.

You offer him so much
Really hope he can see it
Perhaps its good there us no memory
As the soul is tortured
Good to see you write it out
Heart missed a bear at one point
Santi...
Your writing prowess
never ceases to amaze
me! Once again you have
brilliantly penned a super
poem!
The first three stanzas
so aptly speak of a lost
tortured soul I’ve come
to know!
Unfortunately, not all
tortured souls have that
“metamorphic moment”
to see that flickering light
in the distance to realize
the reason for their existence!
So so sad for that tortured
soul not to see that light!!!
So glad the subject of your
poem saw that flickering light and understood “the reason for his existence “!
A must save for my favorites!
~Laura~
Laura, thank you for taking the time to write your thoughtful response! Fortunately, this story has a happy ending; the tortured soul found his home! Thank you for your continued support!
Always...my dear!❤️!!
The 'flickering light' .. that 'metaphoric moment' ... what we all strive for on our endless journeys. Beautifully scribed, Santi!
Yes, we do strive for that don't we? Thank you for your thoughtful reply, Louis! Always much appreciated!
I was captivated, both by the subject and the writing. Oh yes, all it takes is that one little light to show us the way out of darkness.
You started the new year with some very special writing here, Santi. Not easy to top it....it is hard to improve on perfection!
Fred! You humble me with your generous words! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I am so glad you liked this one; it's special for me
GRACIAS SANTITA CARA MIA ~ FOR A VERY POIGNANT POEM !
Stanza 1. Introduces a MAN who searches for HOPE and then forlorn ~ returns home !
Stanza 2. Reaching ROCK BOTTOM (we've all been there !) even our SOUL seems bare
Stanza 3. He makes a decision (we have all made ~ but not all consummated) to actually return home ~ to find Life & Love !
Stanza 4. As He nears home ~ the light in his soul REIGNITES AMEN !
Do we actually learn by our mistakes and experiences ? Perhaps ~ but I know we go through the processes you describe ~ actually & metaphorically many times BUT at least we know ~ WE SURVIVED ! Besos y Abrazos ~ Tu Hermano de Corazon ~ BRAIN XOX
Thank you for your continued support and great comments, B! I appreciate you!! *abrazos*
I am always in awe of your poetry. Wonderful rhymes and cadence. At the end what do we see? Hope, a light in the distance! Love it, Santita!!! (I I also loved the line "ancient winds etched with my name"--so clever!)
That was my favorite line
I am glad you chose that one! Thank you so much, dear. Your comments always bring a smile to my face!
There's always hope for a little light in these dark days.
Written as only you can write. Wondrous!
Thank you, Lawless! Always appreciated!
Santi,
this has given me an idea regarding the novel. Tell yoyu later but this exceptional piece has become an intergral part.
Great word usage & strong images here...it felt like it was about me!
Hood.
