The Fear of the Unknown

a__pott

You reached out to clench the chain,

then the chain clenched back,

pulled you deep and let you go.

You fell and you fell.

You finally land,

and again you lean in for the cold metal links.

you know what will happen.

But you need the stability of knowing you’ll fall,

because you fear what might supervene if you don’t.

Alex, well written! We keep on going in our rut simply because we are afraid to change. Great poem!
