Covered Past

jonnyc1

Strangled with regret, littered with lies, trapped by the shadows I refuse to deny.

Shamed by the light that brings a new day, begging the darkness to never go away.

Fear upon pain, pain upon despair, holding too tight, gasping for air.

Blinded by hate I see, by the rage I feel that hide inside of me.

Frozen with panic, drowning in fear, crawling through mud to cover it clear.

Hoping to last, reaching to grasp, urging the ghosts to smother the past.

Looking to leave, wishing to stay, pulling and scratching to find a way.

Watching my dreams, wishing it true, standing to run somewhere new.
