My skin: penetrated by the fangs of the ink serpent–leaving me with three dots
My tongue: speaking in a dialect of the Los Scandalous slang
My fingers: twisted at the joints in all ways to form letters
Nike Cortez laced up
I am your Lost city soldier
Who fights 'till hood wars are over

- Comment from author about the poem: To me this poem has a little to do with myself and the world that I am surrounded by. In Los Angeles gang culture is very prominent in just about any inner city neighborhood. The first stanza desribes the act of getting the three dots tattoo. Three small dots that signify "mi vida loca" or "my crazy life". The second stanza just mentions the fact that there are many different slang words that is associated with being from LA, but just like dialects, it varies from town to town. The last stanza is a reference to finger twisting or gang signs. When I mention the Nike Cortez, it is because of its popular place in street culture.
