The Gift

davmor73

I live in a defeated world,

Vanquished by the gift of life;

My gift this is; the only one since birth.

I tried to give it back, so many times

To Him who gave the gift,

As yet no luck.

But as the midnight chimes approach,

The question's not if

He'll accept the gift,

But whether I can conquer time

In time, and gain the strength

He gave, to give Him back

The gift for good.
