Colors divide and colors
Unite
Like
Blue with Blue
And
Red with Red
But it's Blue against Red
Or Black killing Black or Brown killing Brown
Childhood friends divided by these colors
Even flesh and blood divided by these colors
But street families are born out of this strange unity of pledging to a color
Because sometimes it's those who sport a color who were the only ones always there
Colors unite and colors divide

- Comment from author about the poem: Alittle context in the poem. The topic on colors has to do with gang colors. I chose to use the example of Red and Blue which is often associated with the Crips and Bloods or Surenos and Nortenos. The idea of colors divide but unite is a juxtaposition between the fact that we form gangs or sets, united, but we divide ourselves by waging war with those who fly a different color.

Thank you PoeticPsycho for this vivid and compelling poem.
It can be read on so many different levels.
Division is society is sad on whatever basis.
