As I stare into empty space
Searching for words
Just out of reach
I have to wonder
Why they hide from me
And what to me this will teach
Perhaps their meaning
More important than I think
Hence, increasing my appreciation
And so for however long it takes
Like a broth my poetry will simmer
Until it reaches completion
Sometimes a poem must wait
For weeks, months or years
Aging like a fine wine
To all poetry I will be true
I’ll serve up no poem
Before its rightful time

A fine write AP. And sometimes I got to wait years for the sherry to mature! Then I drinks it all at once heehee.
Go easy on the sherry orchi. When it's gone, it's gone. Thanks for reading.
I agree! I have poetry that just isn't ready yet too! Like it's just not the right time yet. Very good and thoughtful poem, AP!
Yes Christina, give it time and you'll know when it's ready to serve.
All poems need to marinade before serving - the process helps so much with ensuring the seasonings right. when it is serve and enjoy as I did with this one.
Thank you Michael. Glad you like it.
Good write AP, the time must always be right for each poem that is written.
Very true Goldie. Thanks for reading and your compliment.
Thank you for this. My mind is dry at current.
You're welcome m&m. I'm sure it won't last long. There's always something pulling at the heartstrings for attention.
A very thought provoking poem for any writer, AP! How do we know it is the 'rightful time'? If it wants to be written, it will be!
Thanks Fred. Your comment reminds me of another poem I wrote, will post tomorrow.
