What is happiness, but a chemical reaction
caused by that drug taking action
a pill or a line making you feel sublime
why is it a crime, why do we do the time
self medication is the key
feeling down, just take another key
your mind is free from its former restraints
your mind doesn't bother you
you hear no complaints
you're comfortably numb for an hour or two
before your rush of endorphins is through
then its a brutal return to reality
your problems flood back in a wave of clarity
caused by your sudden and unwelcome sobriety
your again a member of normal society
until next weekend that is
till you get yours hands on some pills or some banging wiz
then you'll return to your place of satisfaction
cos what is happiness
but a chemical reaction

Yep dopamine wins the day. A naturally produced chemical messenger in our brains. Can be enhanced by substance misuse of course.
