Black Friday

Syd

The puppet masters pull the strings
Reduced to clear, the deals entice
We flock like sheep
Scurry like mice

Camping ouside stores overnight
Setting alarm clocks for the sales in Next
Sometimes I'm ashamed to be human
Scenes like these are hard for me to digest

So we stampede and fight
Fuck each other over for a cut price TV
Can anyone else see the inhumaninty in this?
Or is it just me?

Artificially inflated prices only weeks before
Just so they can get you to part with your money
Like a bear getting stung raiding a bees nest
But leaving without the honey

It's all entertainment for the elite
We're so gullible to soak up the lies we are sold
Let's all laugh at the peasants!
It's a rich mans joke that never gets old

When did we lose our common sense?
And when did we lose our dignity?
We should be living life to the full
We should be living free

The hunger for fake wealth keeps our feet planted
The things that really matter are the things we take for granted

Living In a world of delusion
Only art and emotions are real
Desiring for the unobtainable
A sense of failure we should never feel

Our minds are caged
We need to smash the locks
Be happy with what money can't buy
What others think matters not

So many are obsessed with TV and celebrities on the box
At the same time obsessing over possessions that they have not got

Neanderthals had more freedom than this
When they were living in the caves
I agree with what Jim Morrison once said...
WE'RE ALL A BUNCH OF FUCKING SLAVES! !

Great piece, Syd! That picture was crazy! And your poem was so right on. I don't know why people act that way for a quick deal. Thanks for sharing!
