Busy Wrens

Busy Wrens

Nooks and crannies they investigated

With not a single space unchecked

A potted plant was the chosen place

And where they built their nest

The nest was secure and well hidden

With little chicks soon inside

Each of them hungry and driven

And doing their best to survive

The parents lit on a old woodpile

With insects in their beaks

They pivoted and they climbed

As they fed their chicks their treats

The parents really made a fuss

Being busy all about

They took their jobs seriously

With so many hungry mouths

The birds shared the potted plant

With an anatole

They each managed to avoid the cat

and reduced the bugs 10 fold
