Valencian episode

LukeMorrison

Jagged white, uproarious light

Drink-drenched sensations

From the previous night.

Watching the wedding parties

Turn, turn, around they go

Groom and bride, bride and groom

New cast, same old show.

The gentle and the wife beaters,

The constant and the cheaters,

The happy-ever-after seekers,

We move on.

Later, in a scarlet bodega

Clustered tables, raucous aroma

Experience authenticating

Existence validating

Congratulatory glue that sticks.

Then an upturned chair

Something moves that is far too quick

And the cheeky little cockroach

Says click, click, click.

And the cheeky little cockroach

Says click, click, click.

  • Fay Slimm.

A gem of a read Luke - the flow drew me into the local festivities and the metre started my feet tapping at that "drink-drenched" Valencian Wedding.
