Skipping Stones

Skipping Stones

Oh the joys of skipping stones

On a little lake

One, then two, skips along

Then three on good fall days

To choose the stone was the thing

With smooth rocks chosen for skipping

And larger rocks to make a splash

When the skipping stones were missing

A lake of glass we couldn’t pass

And we had to do our thing

Skipping stones as we laughed

To awaken the peaceful scene

Maple leaves from overhead trees

Raced across the lake

The little waves from the rocks we threw

Rocking them on their way
