It was fun pretending I had some kind of angle to play at
Some great lie to sell
And I’ve had a few hits and maybe dishonesty entered into it more than I’d like people to know and less than I’d like to believe myself
But the truth is that I’m as lucky as the next idiot
I won’t lose a game just to stake the next one
I’ll just lose
And then stake the next one
I won’t string you along ahead of time
I’ll just wander in and hope you follow
No master
No novice
Just a fool who can’t resist betting his last five dollars on what he hopes to be his final game
Everybody knows there’s no winning
There’s not really any losing either
I just like that bit in between when it doesn’t seem like there’s anything on the line
