Lonely Is The New Black

Doubletop

As the darkness takes over, my eyes are too blind to see,
My imagination paints negativity, as I watch the optimism flee.

The thorns of my nightmares twist deeper in my brain,
Severing every emotion, until all that is left is pain.

Solitude has become my comfort , a mask is not required,
Years of being the "bubbly" one, has only left me tired.

The grave in which I dwell, I excavated with my own hands,
Hidden six feet under, safe from everyone else's demands.

Lonely has become my rest bite, heartache can't find me here,
How can anyone hurt me again, if I never let them near?

I've always felt that love feeds on love, so too of loneliness feeds on loneliness. Hiding away from the world serves no real purpose except to deepen one's recluse. I hope your poem is not of your own situation. But, a great write just the same.
