A Journeys Ending

jenncampbell

Dirt landing with an ominous thud

Voices singing to deepest parts of my soul

Realizations coming to me

Flooding me with emotions of the rawest form

A presence in the world coming to an end

Making those close contemplate & evaluate

A personal connection once made

is so hard undone

Memories once there

Can hardly be forgotten

Unless taken with misconceptions

or masked with self deception

Sorrow and sadness fill the breeze

As the beauty shines down over me

The melancholy is exhausting

And I shall never fully relinquish this memory

  • Comment from author about the poem: Today one of my dearest best friends of 17+ years became a widow with five children. These words flowed into the paper tonight following the 24 hour wake/funeral/traditional ceremonies these words flowed onto the paper. If they are jumbled and confusing I apologize .... serious lack of sleep. Thanks for reading.
