Paralyzing Tides

Baylee

The water is above you

as you look towards the sky;

warped and twisted by the waves

All our lives

we have been taught

that darkness is something to fear

But they were wrong.

This crepuscule

gives warm hugs

unlike the cold, stiff embrace

which belongs to the human race

So you stay here

within the depths of the water

where you can see them speaking

their voices strangely muted

But this is the way you like it

within your own universe

underneath these paralyzing tides.

Wow, Nicole, this poem really touched me. Well written too. Learned a new word (crepuscule) and especially like the last two stanzas.
