A landscape as far as the mind could range
Devastated, black, void of color or life
He had walked for days without change
Through a world of conflict and strife
With tired steps he kept moving along
When he passed a large blackened stone
Inside a small crack something seemed to be wrong
Something that stopped him and jarred him to the bone
In the middle of that little crack
Grew a tiny bright yellow flower
A yellow light surrounded by black
An image of unimaginable power
It called out to him ‘do not despair’
Even though it may look bleak
For if you open your heart and honestly care
you will always find what it is you seek

A fine write and true Fred.
Mahalo, orchi! We all go through these valleys and I think we do need to be reminded every once in a while that it will get better. Some find solace in religion, some in music, some in friendship, some in family.
Been there a few times too Fred. Thanks for this.
Mahalo, AP! We have all 'been there'. What really matters is how we get out of it. Sometimes even a few words help to point us again in the right direction.
Or a hand on the shoulder from a friend who understands. ; )
Good metaphor on the "Dark night of the soul," Fred. Been there, done that, as most of us have by the time they reach our stage of life. My heart goes out to any who do not have such a growth experience during their lifetime.
And a 'growth experience' it certainly is! Thank you Louis!
Thank you for writing this Fred, I love it! 🙂
Thank you skye, there are times when we need that little light to show the way.
Thank you for showing the light in the darkness of my time.
m&m, I know it sounds maybe corny, but I am sure you will find that light if you look hard enough.
