Some cultures evolve forward
So wide and diverse
Others more barbaric
Evolution in reverse
Grown men waging war
Since the dawn of time
And young children in war games
Have we nothing better to teach of mankind?
With global greed
The universal screw
They don’t care who you are
They’ll screw you too
Just sign your name
On the dotted line
They’ll steal your life’s savings
Take you for every dime
Be careful
When you answer that phone
Who’s on the other end of the line?
For you can’t trust the unknown
We strive to live
In a world of compassion
To help our sisters and brothers
Sadly, that tradition’s become old fashioned
We’ve come so far
And yet, just a heartbeat of eternity
Will a foul culture devour itself?
And what’s to become of humanity?
The future of mankind is at stake
In the children we must invest
Summon up all our good morals
Give to them our very best

Good write AP.
Thanks orchi.
Very true, but those morals get twisted by those in power.
Yes Andy, twisted to their own twisted minds. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Great write
Thanks Tony. I appreciate your reading and compliment.
Welcome
Love your poem, AP!
Sitting on this lonely rock, thousands of miles away from the action, I sometimes contemplate (I guess a little bit like the old wise man on top of the mountain) the sad state of affairs this world is in.
'Will a foul culture devour itself?' You do ask great questions.
Thanks Fred. And I'm afraid of the answer.
Thanks, AP! Very thought provoking.
Thank you WC for reading and commenting.
Sometimes, I was wondering what took our good morals away?
That's a good question m&m. And I'm sure many people will have various answers to it. Ultimately, I'd say the answer is greed, for power and for money. But also I think the ego of certain people in high positions are at fault too. Thanks for reading and your comment.
A beautiful and very realistic poem AP.
Thank you Zizi. I appreciate your reading and complimenting.
