Peacock Watcher

w c

Peacock Watcher

He served as a prized watchdog

And he didn’t miss a thing

He was beautiful as he strutted

And detected everything

Each step there was measured

With his tail feathers wide

So many colors mixed together

And oh so many eyes

He was the greatest of the fowl

And reigned up in a tree

He would roost there many hours

And practiced his echoing

He was beautiful pageantry

With the turkey a distant second

He won the contest hands down

With no others there contesting

Unlike the turkeys and the chickens

He wasn’t a main course planned

And he could strut proud and long

The most beautiful in the land
