Points of View

b-LAH-que

Maybe I seek to delude?

Maybe I'm speaking the truth?

A crazy point of view only enjoyed by a few

It's not that it's lazy or baseless

just basically makes you rethink what you knew

Uncomfortable, isn't it?

When what you want isn't fitting in

When new information says to be reconsidering

An interpretation with a vision embittering

Permitting it simply won't do

At the end of the day all you might say, "fuck you!"

But with luck I had found a way to see through

The eyes of who've witnessed me miss marks relentlessy

My errors have seen through your view

The poem confronts the sticky issue of “toleration”. We aren’t having true dialogue until we can “hear out” the arguments of those we disagree with. Those whom claim to be the most tolerant are usually the ones to try to completely shut down a point of view they disagree with. Sounds a lot like totalitarianism...Good job!

Thank you, and I love the interpretation! I've been posting here for a while, and although I appreciate all feedback, I think your comment is the first to offer meaning and further personal thoughts to a poem I've posted. I definitely had people's stubborn ways of looking at an issue as well as their hostile defenses if it in mind while writing this. Thanks for reading!
