The Essence

Laedie Willacaw

The Essence,

By Laedie Willacaw

Moonlight removes the veil of deceit,
Fire! There is singing, chanting, and the stomping of feet.
Colors of the rainbow, all gathered to kiss the land,
They caress the earth amongst the forest, sea, and sand.
But, hark! For there is a figure I do spy,
A single maid, cloaked with intent, and a whimsy-coated eye.
Gaze into the candlelight, and a tone shall chime,
A tapestry of tradition- of rhythm and rhyme.
Of skulls and crosses, of elemental stars,
Of brooms and tombs of sacred runes- of Jupiter and of Mars.
They rest high, they rest low,
Working with the Goddess, and a murder of crows,
The Wytches of old, resurrected by today,
We've returned- have arrived- and our here to stay,
Both light and dark, as well as in-between,
We live in pure sight, amongst the unseen.
We work with intent of the past, future, and present,
Hark! For we are today's Magicians of Witchcraft- the essence.

The rhyme scheme is like a current you float down.
