An Old Favorite Song

Accidental Poet

An Old Favorite Song

As I sit here

Four A.M. and wide awake

Looking back upon my life

Nostalgically, I contemplate

Memories that linger

Memories that fade

And some that never happened

By fate I never made

Who does one call upon

When dreams are not enough

To find purpose in end results

Sometimes so tough

And here I am today

That rear view mirror so clear

The past carved in stone

Reviewed year by year

Living in the past

I know is not where I belong

But I’ll smile as there on my radio

Plays an old favorite song

A fa;vourite song of mine too A.P. and this engaging poem on looking backwards really shows memories can linger within our hearts. Great read.

Thank you Fay. All the best memories are right there where it matters most, in the heart.

Memories are reflected in many of the songs we heard back in the day. Good write.

A fine write and song AP. I see it's from 1973. I've forgotten some of the words. I was not singing hardly at all then (hooray you say?!) lol.

You know orchi, when I was just a young boy, there was a song on the radio that I thought might be you. It was called, "They're Coming to Take Me Away Ha Ha, Ha Hee" Go to Youtube and type it in, it's a real song. If I know you, you'll love it.
