A Shadow Of The Sunrise

Edthepoet

I wish I'd stayed
Forever on the horizon
Of summers longest day
But my honour got
The better of me
Now I'll never kiss you again.

Maybe one day you'll hear
The flap of wings in the wind as
I come back as an eagle
And watch over our children play

I wish I'd remained
A shadow of the sunrise
Burned into your memory
But my loyalty got
The better of me
Now its your faith I've betrayed

Maybe one day you'll see
My bittersweet smile in the rain as
I come back as thunder
And breathe new life into our grain.
