Christmas Memories
My calendar says
It’s the month of December
Christmas memories
I’m inclined to remember
From the days of my youth
Priceless memories I hold
Like yesterday they seem
Nuggets of treasured gold
Freshly fallen snow
The bright sunny day after
Playing in the snow
And the gathering of laughter
Multi-colored lights
All over town
The Christmas songs
A joyous seasonal sound
Riding thirty miles in the car
To spend Christmas
With Grandma and Grandpa
Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who miss us
Now the stockings are filled
Santa Clause has come and gone
And at the top of the stairs
Waiting are eager little ones
Family exchanging gifts
Train sets and flying aces
Children that sing of delight
Smiles on everyone’s faces
And Christmas Mass
Where talk of Jesus's birth
His teachings of God’s love
As he walked upon this Earth
My Christmas spirit
Alive and well this December
With Christmas memories
I fondly remember

Yes - a good write and very nostalgic - nice one AP.
Thanks Michael. Very easy to get nostalgic at Christmas time.
I love this enchanting tale of your memories A.P. - as this lovely poem states Christmas is children and family time - a great read and thank you for sharing.
Juts listened to you chosen Christmas song - a tender and caring number with a lovely video to go with it. Thanks for the pleasure of both the read and the visual.
Thanks Fay, I'm delighted you liked the song and my poem.
Lovely write and pic AP.
fantastic poem, AP. keep the rides going.
Thanks Kevin. I'm a rider same as you Bro. The guy upstairs is driving. And I put my trust in him always. ; )
you achieve that very gracefully too, AP. your pen flows like a golden eagle through the thermals of life. a great poet, my friend.
Kevin, I'm honored with your compliments of my writing. And as so often happens on here, I'm reminded of the old saying "It takes one to know one". ; )
I believe that to be very true. it\'s the same as each person gravitates towards their own. very true also. I believe, however, a real honest, none faking, thoughtful, talented person can discover poetry opens up a whole bunch of new beautiful worlds to live in. I reflect your image in my life as I do with most good poetic minds. I don\'t know about you, but my mind is completely over-flowing with imagery I can\'t keep up with, your style of writing catches my imagination because I can write in an identical way as you. there is always another story behind good poets work and that\'s what I attempt to achieve in mine. resonate with as many messages and thoughts through just one poem. it edges up against becoming a great poet really well. keep your standard up and you will grow into becoming one yourself, as indeed, I intend to also.
All very true and I agree. I'm also of the idea that we're all students in the classroom of life. And I have to admit this classroom of MPS has been one of my most memorable and enjoyable to date. Thank you Kevin not only for being here, but also your friendship.
Always, AP, speaking of life, apart from your pen, how's yours doing at the moment. I read somewhere you were having a difficult time with breaking up with your wife/girlfriend. please pardon me if I'm incorrect. I, at least, hope you're safe.
Oh rest assured I have been safe for some time. I've been divorced since 2011. And it was in the last months of my marriage that the love of my life (Sharon) who had always been in the back of my mind suddenly came forward (in my mind) and is when I started writing poetry for her. If you'd like, you can go back and read my posts for Sharon and know my history with her. Thanks for your asking.
