Battlefield

Carmine

I hear screaming

I hear armies clashing

I hear the blades and shields

I hear insults in different languages

but yet

there is some kind of  slow motion

but yet

it feels like time is going slower

I can see the arrows flying over me

I can see the fire of burned villages

and

I can see the fire of razed cities

my armour

and

my heart

I feel it

breaking down

slowly

is

very

terrifying...

I have seen this before

I have heard this before

I'm bad and good

We are all heroes

but

We are all villains

We have both killed

and

We have both saved

the

people

of

our own kind

and

our own country

I finally take a breath

and

I pick up my sword and shield

the blood

and

the rust

and

the dirt and mud of the ground

I finally open my eyes

and

I see the massacre

I finally start running

against the things I feared

and

against my foes

I finally feel the ground

and

my blood

I finally can rest in peace

I guess this is my final goodbye

hearing my allies and enemies

hearing both sides angry and sadden

hearing the sun and the moon

this is the battlefield

and

no one is a hero here

fighting is our duty

for

the

people

or

for

Ourselves

in

Our

heads

or

in front

of

us

we are together

we are brothers and sisters at arms

our stories will not be forgotten

even when we have

our biggest victory

or

our biggest defeat.
