creation

Pippa Bloom

she fills herself with sunflower seeds
sits with freckled face towards the sun
slowly
turning

from pink

to red

to purple.

her legs are crossed
but her body is open and rooted.

she smiles
when her skin
starts to peel.
yellow petals
s p r o u t
from her mouth,
she throws her head back
warmth unraveling from her core.

soon her cheeks rip
splitting dimples
into long slits
where green hands
force out of their shell.

her empty body
is now a casket.
but it is a casket filled with life.

sunflowers stand tall from her neck
face towards the sun.
