Honesty

"Carter Wills"

I made my promise,
and I'm sticking to it.
I made my promise,
not breaking through it.

Have to keep my word,
can’t make any changes.
Have to keep my word,
can't differ in the ranges.

Because a lie is no good.
Only ever causes trouble.
A lie is no good.
It just leaves broken rubble.

Trust isn't easy to make,
and neither is it easy to keep.
But just try to stay honest,
and you'll be okay, you'll see.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Perhaps it's a stupid reason, but still. I've had a lot of people lie to me throughout my life, and I've told a disappointing number myself. So I try to remain, well, "honest", as the name suggests, and I ask the same of my friends these days.

a simply honest poem I like it. In the end lying is the root of regret.
