Happy Finches

Happy Finches

There are some finches trapped in a cage

And I don’t know why they sing

And play and whistle all around

In a space so limiting

They are loved by everyone

And brighten up their days

With florescent lighting as their sun

Still they sing and play

Back and forth back and forth

They fly they perch they fly

There is a sure happiness

Though the ceiling is their sky

When they go to heaven

We know God will make them great

Reflecting on all the many times

They sang while in a cage

St. Michael himself knows all the birds

And their history of confining spaces

And He especially proclaims

Them angels at St. Peter’s station
