Seven Deadly Sins- Sloth

Izzi Lynn

apathy has long since sank into your pearl bones
and stained your skin dark like the earthen soil.
you bleed your energy out just breathing,
anything more seems i-n-s-u-r-m-o-u-n-t-a-b-l-e.
you have lived centuries and lost your purpose ages ago.
you fought in fifteen wars- fifteen wars too many.
was there ever any purpose in the bloodshed, you ask?
was there ever any purpose at all?
every king declares war believing their reasons are righteous,
but you know better.
yes, all those noble causes burn beneath the pain of battle.
they sent you off to the battlefield telling you, "you're saving the country"
but you can't seem to forget the tears in the man's eye as your bullet carved a hole in his chest.
you spent so much time trying to make change
but the mountains still stay the same.
it was pointless and so are you.
