Little Duck Pond
Little ducks on a pond
A busy place where they belong
Swimming there all around
The little hens a color brown
A decaying leaf a bit of shoot
The water there a savory soup
The regular storms with their showers
Stirring the water for many hours
A beautiful drake quite a sight
Flapping his wings before his flight
And many birds there overhead
Circling ‘round the soupy bed
And the little coots swim there too
On the summer afternoons
Their little beaks as a piece of chalk
Writing on the wet sidewalks
A beautiful widgeon colored bright
Its shovel beak of special type
With spoonsful there on the pond
They filter around but have no song
And cattails on a sandy shore
Protect the ducks and animals galore
Especially all the little ones
Before their days in the sun
