To Drink Another For The Road.

kevin browne

Roses went a walking with the look of love
Jesus sat on higher ground with Booby Vee
Honeysuckle rise was a miracle
Painted by Michelangelo on a silver screen
Let's play harvest let's play dead
Never got round to reading Karl Marx's head
Cuba left a flat hole in the ground
So children started dancing on MTV
Dire Straits walked the walk of life
When live aid let them in
Operation heard the doctor call
Einstein's equation answered all
Florida saw the moon shooting cocaine
Hitler took another million Jewish lives again
Monopoly cost a billion or more to win
Poverty begins rising from begging souls
The days of Marylin Monroe are tortured
The Wizard of Oz gave us some hope
Of a home full of family
When Buddy Holly took off and died that night
Another bye-bye love was never forgotten about
That day the music died
And revolutions spin the coin for a change at last
They've all been worth it, just look back at the past
So I'll tell you something as senorita plays
She's singing out loud for no reason
She's been laying on her back again
With a man who is president of the USA
Check in to rehab but no no no
With another needle in the arm
Blessed that life is there once more
Blessed with the devils' charm of course
Up over the distance in horizons blistering heat
When needing an Ingrid Bergman kiss
Sit down in New York park and reminisce
Over towered twins together forever dead
Raised to the ground because of war
It was horrible murder which we saw
In the tents of Piltons Glastonbury festival sing
Aloud we pray for rain today to soak our souls in music
Drinking and romancing with the fertility of mud
Singing there'll be no more loneliness this Christmas
If ever the blues get you down then dance in Louisianna
And skip to the loo my darlings forever we will piss
With jumping hearts over to a view of a loving kiss
5 shots caught John Lennon off guard in his peace
Freddie caught aids and his face was flaking
But his smile still stayed on
What does Elvis sing up in Heaven, only God knows
As a song begins his heart softly blows
So love him tender
And in time I wish we could swim
Across the oceans with whales waves and sun
Whether the journey will be fun fun fun
Drinking all day Oliver Reed left us alone
To drink another for the road.
