The Man on the Corner

Mr.Giggles180

Does anyone see the man the man on the corner ?
The one holding up a sign while wishing he was warmer.
Did you see him just see him there and just drive?
Believing him to be just another drunk guy.
Will you ever think back to that cold man on the corner
Or is his memory just to dismissed in order?
maybe you assumed he'd be fine
or that someone else would help him in time
maybe you assumed he deserves where he's at
and blocked him out as you drove past
What if you're wrong?
and that lonely, cold man.
with a torn black coat and camo pants.
fought in the war
now he lives in a tent
cause when he got back
he couldn't get a job or pay rent
and no matter how hard he tried
he couldn't get hired
so now as he stands on that corner, cold, and tired
stuck with that old heartbroken pain in his chest
he remembers how no matter what he tried
his wife still left
and though he tries to numb himself inside
he still keeps seeing how his best friend died
as the the grenade he jumped on shreds him inside
and maybe he'll get help from some passerby
or maybe pass out in some alley and die
but you can help him
with just a bit of food and your time
you could tell him the truth
that can free his soul and clear his mind.
