a fistful of cheddar

Abora

1/7/18 2:34 AM

Chaotic mumbling in my ears, the entire universe nipping
at my snout
I thought the months before were cold enough
And all too quiet

But now I am faced with subzero reality
Windchills cutting through layers to make me see
I have been so dense
And now I feel the thaw
Freezing and cracking me open
Wilted pavement bursting into stalagmites

Chaos has a funny way of saving me
I go through my day, expecting nothing
I have found that I only need wait
For that random sprinkling of fate
To plow open drifting roads of snow

I wrote to myself patience, young man for a time
I’d sit and stare, hoping for deliverance
Now I only see horizons
I’ll ride off into the sunset
On a pale horse covered in glitter
Bandoliers of beer bottles strapped to my chest

A six iron strapped to my thigh
Holstering a plate of nachos
And other versions of cheese
