In my rear view mirror I see
The universe within
From origins to destinations
Where our journey of life begins
The roads we travel
With many twists and turns
Crossroads with choices aplenty
Resulting in countless lessons we’ve learned
The embrace of love
And the scars of heartache
The evolution of a relationship
To each other we give and take
Matters of the heart in
Marriage and divorce
Leave behind the sorrow
Chart a new constructive course
Always looking forward
Yet, still aware of the past
Seek the truth from all sides
Resist impatient urges so fast
Looking inward
My confidence to re-invent
Conduct outwardly
Actions of good intent
Encourage the finer side of me
Weigh out the good and bad
Lean on the impulse to laugh
Shy away from thoughts so sad
Like a squirrel following a trail
Advice left from my future self
Clues for my inner detective
Leading to my emotional wealth
So with open eyes and heart
My true destiny I look to see
I’ll get there in due time
In search of me

There's some good a advice in this poem. Great write - Syd
Thank you Syd. I'm constantly reminded of "Life Lessons" from bad and good decisions in the past. Sometimes those bad decisions haunt me to the point of a guilt trip. But then I remember none of us get "Life Manuals" at birth, so accepting that mistakes happen eventually eases that guilty conscience. But in a nutshell, that's where this poem came from. Thanks for reading and your compliment.
You're welcome. I could have certainly done with a life manual
"Well expressed AP
Thanks Michael.
You there yet, with first writing this in 2011?!
Good write AP. I thought: 'Am I me, myself, or I?' I ended up more confused than when I started. I reckon I was searching for three guys there in total! lol.
They are all searching for you orchi, so don't argue with them.
Thanks for these words of wisdom A.P. - I relate especially to the thoughts summed up in your final few lines
You're welcome Fay, I'm honored that you found my thoughts worthy of holding onto.
Very good write, you will find yourself and move forward to a grand life.
But what a surprise when we find out we've been living that grand life all along Andy. Thanks for reading and your uplifting compliment.
Just brilliant, just what the doctor ordered.
Your healing wise words have already calmed my storm (well a bit), I could feel me inner trust Returning.
Cheers doc 😉
