Weakness

poetboy5454

I was there

I saw it happen

I didn’t look away

I went in

I fought back

I thought I had become the person I had wanted to be

I was not the person I needed to be

And I watched

It

Crack

Right

There

A lion beneath the skin doesn’t translate well physically

Tried to stop them

Failed to stop them

Alone I failed to stop them

 A million eyes watching

It

Crack

Right

There

A boat trying to tame the raging sea

Damaged hull, wave pulls up

Sinking slowly down

Fading slowly away

There the stars lay watching

It

Crack

Right

There

The strength of the soul

Unbeaten yet beaten

Opportunity knocked at my door

Tripped on my way there

A thousand steps away

I watched it all

Slip away

A crack spreading like the breath of a lightning bolt

Spreading

Spreading

Everywhere

A creative form and use of word repetition. I get that an object that is cracked would be structurally compromised, or weakened...and in your poem the crack appears to be getting worse....

But cracks can mend too, it just felt like the poem should end there. Thank you for your insight
