Perennial

A perennial comes back every year

Regardless if others hold it dear

With the stuff for life again

Having survived the winter winds

The warmer weather makes it grow

With the things that survived the snow

And is like a growing child

Changing fast all the while

Most of the time the flower is winning

Without need for pruning or trimming

And is fine for a while

As the sun shines its smile

Yet there are certain stages

As the flower grows and ages

When it does need some help

With a rain soaking wet

And so it is that life goes on

For the little child that is sown

With an expectation few can wide

That the man will never die
