There Is A Flicker, At Least

poetboy123

A gloom settles upon a dusty room

Littered with book sprawled open and inkless pens and crumpled paper

Bleeding the ideas of what needs to be said but never to be heard

Filled with the emptiness of hope and despair beating in it like a heart

A match is thrown but the flame flickers and wanes deep inside

Smoke dispersing and forgotten, embers cooling and ashes waiting

Overwhelming frustration and lack of motivation batter against the worn soul

With endless desperation and blank sensations yelling out silence

Light slamming against the darkness of ignorance and apathy

Wilting after facing wave after wave of unlimited weeds of doubt

A flame stirs and struggles and strengthens and stalls

Frost of nothingness feeds upon the malformation of the heart

A deep seated rage boils and fumes and shouts and screams out into the deaf silence

Stomps and growls and roars and does anything to feel the flower of life bloom once again

Suffocating against the leaky darkness pouring from within

Drowning and sinking and rising and breathing and falling once again

A defeat for every victory and pain with each glimmer of joy

Sailing upon a constantly switching nightmare and dream unsure of its own existence

A flame stirs and struggles and strengthens and stalls

Trying to breathe in a darkness drowned dusty room

Flickering
