My Strangest Dream

Alex Arnot

A most peculiar set of events unfolded

In the darkness where my dreams are molded

She found me in my favorite mental haze

With the warmest smile on her face.

Gave me the key to find her there once more

“Reach out for me” she did implore.

Before this dream began to fade

As I begged my mind to let me stay

Tightly gripping this world of fiction

“It’s more than fantasy” was my conviction

One last thing I had to save

The final piece, it was her name

And so the sunshine greeted my eyes

My conscious mind then came alive

After the morning’s toil ceased

I’d set out to decode my dream

On social media I searched your name

And to my surprise I found your face!

I’ve never believed in destiny

But how could I possibly explain what I’ve seen?

It never really amounted to anything

Such a coincidental happening.

Though surely this has to have some meaning

For a mind can’t dream a face from nothing.
