When Man Wakes Up

Accidental Poet

When Man Wakes Up

When hope isn’t enough

And love falls on deaf ears

Common sense not so common

When bad dreams wake with tears

When world leaders

Push each others buttons

To the brink of war

When evil gorges on two gluttons

When birds don’t know

Which way to fly

All the flocks of feather

When they all seem to cry

When paws running scared

Can’t hide anymore

Where can they go

When the fire burns shore to shore

When whales lose their way

The ocean currents run amok

Polar Caps melted and gone

When the sea is out of luck

When the trees bare no leaves

From years of air pollutions

And man dropped the ball

When failed to act on solutions

When the sky turns angry

And the Earth changes mood

No matter what the season

When the clouds come unglued

When the ground bleeds

All around the globe

A sad day it’ll be

When the Earth decides to disrobe

When suddenly the sun shines

Through the window it streams

The look of pure horror

When man wakes up from his bad dreams

I hope we clean up our act before it’s too late and the dream will become a reality!
A Great write. A poignant reminder of what can be! Let’s not let it happen!

Too many bad dreams are reality I'm afraid - let's hope we do wake up.

      • Accidental Poet

True Michael, the world is already full of bad dreams that became a reality. I wonder though, is it already too late.

A fine write AP. Many have mucked things up. Thankfully many are helping though, with conservation, etc.

        • Accidental Poet

Thanks for reading orchi, I fear though it'll take a whole lot more than just conservation to turn things around.

          • orchidee

i know what you mean AP. Conservation is good, yet it's dealing with an 'outward' thing. I feel it's mankind's 'inward' state that needs changing most of all.

            • Accidental Poet

              Agreed.

            • WL Schuett

Very thoughtful AP ...when are we going to wake up

              • Accidental Poet

Thanks for reading Bill. What if the time to wake up was 50 years ago?

              • Goldfinch60

We need to wake up soon as we are destroying it in our sleep.

                • Accidental Poet

True Andy. Time is running out. Thanks for reading.

                • Louis Gibbs

Mankind has been down this path before, and yet here we still are. I feel this dream/nightmare is a long way from being 'over', whatever that entails. Great write, here, AP!

                  • Accidental Poet

Thank you Louis. For all we know, this may be the beginning of the end.

This poem puts me on edge waiting for a conclusion that can't come to fruition. I absolutely love that. This is such great writing.

                        • Accidental Poet

Thank you for reading and your comment Aislinn, a scary scenario for sure.

Yes Ed, there are way too many who don't fully understand what we're faced with. Thanks for reading.

This is fascinating. I hope we do wake up soon! A great poem, by the way

Great poem! I just hope we wake up before it is too late! Since our souls can be anywhere in the Universe, after we screw up the Earth, maybe we can find another planet somewhere to start doing it all over again!

                              • Accidental Poet

Thanks Fred. I've always been for space travel and exploration, but it did sort of bother me that we first left our used stuff on the Moon and now Mars. That seems to be our legacy, cluttering up the planets.

An incredible poem. Well written. I wish that man will wake up so much destruction in the world.

                                Keep writing

Oh yeah I love this...it's like my poem is the ending to the warning in yours...what will happen...end of data

It's very scary to say the least. Thanks for reading and your comment.
