A Million Dreams

DD.

Every night I lie in bed,

A million dreams inside my head.

A world that I created,

Feels like home.

And in this world,

Are dreams of mine.

Hard to reach,

Flawed by design.

But holding on to them, has kept me sane.

I think of what this world could be,

If you could see what I could see.

A world better experienced,

With Love.

But to let you in, risks the world of mine.

Painfully crafted, over time.

To be the world,

Reality denied.

And you may call me crazy.

But maybe one day, far from now,

If confidence and fears allow.

I'll let someone in to see the world.

That somehow, saved my life.

But now at least know where I am,

In distant lands, no one understands.

Where I think, of what the world could be,

A vision of the one I see.

And, for now, holding on to this, has kept me sane.

  • Comment from author about the poem: A poem inspired by the song A Million Dreams from the musical The Greatest Showman. *Lines in bold are actual lyrics from the song. **Some other lines may be similar, but I have edited them slightly. ***I highly recomend listening to the soundtrack that is available on Youtube, and even better seeing the movie if you can. I have yet to see the fim, but will be doing so as soon as possible. I am in lvoe with the Soundtrack.
