A Flock Of Geese

A Flock Of Geese

He was one of many in the flock

And identical to his brother

With the business at hand to fly away

In a V with each other

They traveled each and every day

Much the same and fatiguing

Stay the course each proclaimed

And travel south believing

The lead goose was responsible

For the flight he led

With those getting lost

Demoted to flanks instead

And with a majority opinion

The flock agrees to land

With sunshine and clear blue skies

Welcoming them home again

Whether a grain field or a lake

They settle in for winter

Knowing that come spring

They’ll fly back if they remember

I really enjoyed this - where I live in New England the Canadian Geese make a great show of practicing every year and "get ready" and then never leave. Lazy geese I guess.

Yes, some geese never leave. I guess they've really got it good.
