Dark retreat

E.J.Foreman

i find my retreat

In a place unknown.

It can never be found

And never be shown.

The place I find

Is no place to be.

For there is pain  and despair

As far as the eye can see.

Dark and cold its hard to breathe

This place I'm in, you wouldn't believe

The piercing screams tear at my soul,

Everyone's stories wanting to be told.

I want to listen

I want to help.

I will take their pain

To set them free

Then I realise what I'm meant to see

All this pain and distress

It's all coming

From me.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I\\\'m still very new at this so apologies to don\\\'t like it. I suppose it\\\'s about me and past regrets, about those who needed me when I was selfish. I lie awake at night most of the time with flashbacks of times I was selfish. I\\\'m now some one who likes helping friends, strangers or anyone who just wants to be heard without prejudice. I welcome all comments good or bad. \r\nThanks for your time
