Special Table
In a bit of creativity
We built a special table
It celebrated someone special to me
when I was young and able
Through the years we polished it
And it stood strong many days
For birthday parties and anniversaries
And the many meals we ate
There were family talks held there
As we discussed our lives
From his being out too late
To the tears when daddy died
We used it daily many years
Though I don’t know where it went
We somehow lost it as we moved
And we haven’t seen it since
If it showed up at an antique store
Collectors would pass it by
Unknowing of its history
And importance in our lives
Should the table ever be found
I would buy it for my son
And trust that he would polish it
While he is able and young

Thanks for your support, orchidee!
What a delightful poem WC.
A family table within a house therein lies so many treasured memories.

Thanks FineB! I appreciate your comment.
I'm sad for the table - that it had to leave the family.
Thanks Lorna! In part two i guess i should find the table, and return it to its rightful place.
Please do!
This created a swell of emotion deep inside of me. What a great write, and the way you create a history than can be filled in with any of our personal stories while including your own - just fantastic.
Very nice!

Thanks Tony. I really appreciate your support.
Welcome
Your piece is warm and comforting though it brings to mind that there are many here who haven't been favoured with such a wholesome family background.
Lovely story.
Yes, not everyone has a special table i feel fortunate to have had one.
