What It Is Like To Be Transgender

Vanz

The person you see, is a shell,
Covering my whole body.
The name you say,
Is not one I recognize anymore.
The pronouns you use,
Do not refer to me at all.

I am not going through a phase,
I am going through a wall,
I am breaking out.
I am trying to force this mask away;
To emerge as my true self.
I am trying to show you,
There is more to me than a shell.

Instead,

I'm a hidden gem,
Buried in the underground,
Hidden behind rock walls.
Break them,
Break the shell that in cases me,
Find me...because I'm done finding myself.
