A Twisted Flow (+3)

Kurt Philip Behm

Two streams below the falls,

the feeling and message part

Drowning with malcontent

—whirling in a twisted flow

(Las Vegas Boulevard: 2 A.M. January, 2018)

Death Grip

Do you like the idea,

after its meaning has changed

Do you hang onto the past,

when this moment sets you free

Do you continue to grieve,

as pure joy calls your name

Do the lyrics that you sing

—suture tight or still bleed

(Las Vegas Boulevard: 2:30 A.M. January, 2018)

La Verdad

Unlike the curse

placed on most ideologues

The Truth

—never contradicts itself

(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2018)

Last Second Chance

Can you rise above yourself

to live and speak the truth

Can your parts reform and shun

a past you now uproot

Can you become that special someone

while others look askance

Can the lie you’ve lived before today

—get one last second chance

(Las Vegas Nevada: January, 2018)

No.1: Beautiful writing, Kurt. I seems to me that you are leaving this one wide open to any reader's interpretation. Don't know why, but the first thing that came to my mind is divorce. Where once was only one stream, there are now two and the second stanza with its malcontent and twisted flow plays right into that thought. Or maybe I am just nuts! đŸ™‚
No.2: Makes one think about the human condition. Been there - done that! Just wasn't able to express it as elegantly as you did.

You're right on both counts, Fred. "Divided we often fall"

Thanks so much for reading and putting so much into your
      response.

This will rattle around in my head for a long time. Always amazed at the power and emotion you can write with. So grateful that I have you an example; is oh so many ways.

That admiration goes both ways! Maybe time to
co-author that book we talked about.
