One Night

edwinknox

The darkest night

Makes for the brightest stars

I wish I could take flight

And tour past mars

But I’m stuck on Earth

Staring at the sky

Contemplating what I’m worth

Wishing I could fly

Oh what I’d give

To get so far away from this place

I’m losing my will to live

I can't handle the challenges I face

The sky calls to me

It gives me hope

That one day I may be

Willing to drop the rope

But for now it will stay

Tied nice and neat

I can feel it sway

As I am taken off my feet

As I take my last breath

I wonder if I made my mark

At least I know my death

Will be in the comfort of the dark

  • Comment from author about the poem: Poem #2! I tried my hand at a simple rhyme scheme. It's a touch on the depressing side though. Any feedback is much appreciated!
