Life’s great prize

chris frank

So private, so quiet she sits all alone

The lady in blue she doesn’t know how

To tell him her story, her life’s graceful curve.

Yet all he would wish is to listen and learn,

To be let through the layers

To be let into her heart

The lady can’t believe the beauty he sees

No one has shown her the love she now knows

But now she can do what her heart may desire.

Her hands are held back

Her lips held together,

Stopping her holding her future unfolded

Nothing is certain but everything’s real

The prize she may win is greater than all.

He loves her without end, this man of surprise

Her role is to ask, to tell him to come,

To reach out and say just how she feels

To tell him she’s loves him no matter the cost

In their twilight she realises, her eyes shine through

She sees him waiting and lowers her guard.

Finally knowing that dreams can come true

The girl lets him in becoming his Helen.

Walking together without their past ghosts,

The couple are happy, safe and in love.
