Deep Within (+1)

Kurt Philip Behm

Deep within the ashes,

a last ember burned alone

A final spark to light the torch,

to guide your spirit home

Deep within the ashes,

a last beacon in the fight

Refusing to let the darkness take

—your vestige into night

The Eagles Eye

Like a telescope in focus,

the words get sharp and clear

And magnify within the thought,

a feeling oh so dear

Each letter worth a hundred times,

what yesterday did know

New verse now burning laser bright,

—eternal in its glow

There are very few poems that take away my words. This one did. I am blown away and all I can do is make it a favorite. I also printed it out to put on my wall so I can read it over and over again. Nuff said!

Ample reason to never give up, never give up that ship. Beautiful Kurt!

    Thereā€™s comfort in
    knowing that thereā€™s
    always that last spark
    within us! Beautifully
    expressed, Kurt! Thank
    you for sharing!
